Lighting designer David Martin Jacques serves as Head of Stage Lighting for CalRep. Mr. Jacques has designed over 300 theatre, opera, television, dance and special event productions. Recent productions include Die Frau Ohne Schatten for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Tosca for the Kirov at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk with The Canadian Opera Company, Tannhäuser with Teatro alla Scala, Daphne with Teatro la Fenice (DVD), I Lombardi with Teatro Maggio Fiorentino, Cherubin with Teatro Lirico di Cagliari (DVD), The Rehearsal/Shostakovich’s Symphony Nº.13 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Traviata, Saint of Bleeker Street, Cendrillon, and Poet Li Bai with Central City Opera. Future productions include Tosca with the Canadian Opera Company, Lulu with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Otello with The Welsh National Opera in Great Briton. Mr. Jacques’ designs for television have been broadcast on NBC, A&E, and PBS. He also served as lighting consultant for Walt Disney Creative Entertainment and designed numerous projects for Epcot Center, MGM, and Euro-Disney. In addition, Mr. Jacques designs architectural lighting projects throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, and occasionally plays Hammond organ in local blues and jazz bands in Southern California.
